Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Urine (24-hour, well-mixed)

Urine container with 25 mL 6N HCl preservative.
Collect urine in 2 qt plastic bottle containing 25 mL 6N HCl; indicate 24-hour volume. Patients should be instructed to avoid direct contact with collection bottles or bags containing preservatives, especially hydrochloric acid. Patients should be given two containers: onew bottle containing 6N HCl should be used for pooling voids over 24-hour collection period; additional bottle should be used for each void and poured into pooling bottle immediately following void.
Ship frozen on dry ice.
